Co2 fractional laser

The newest fractional CO2 laser in the market is the versatile CO2RE from Syneron-Candela.

The CO2RE is extremely effective in treating wrinkles, discoloration, skin laxity and acne scars. It´s dual system can penetrate the skin at both superficial and deep levels simultaneously.

Fractional laser drill millions of tiny holes in the skin – vaporizing what it comes in contact with and creating columns into the skin, this columns of skin are removed, leaving the skin surrounding each column intact to aid in healing. The minute damage or “wounds” created by the laser force the body to heal with new and healthy skin, eradicating any previous pigmented or lax skin. The depth of laser penetration determines what is being treated.

The CO2RE uses two types of laser beams that penetrate to different depths, it has up to 7 treatment modes to treat a variety of skin issues. The CO2RE offers less discomfort and dramatic results after just one session.

In contrast to ablative lasers that vaporize the whole skin surface, Fractional lasers just vaporizes minimal portions of the skin so the surrounding tissue stimulates the healing process minimizing the downtime.

What can I expect after my procedure?

Immediately following the procedure, you can expect a sensation similar to sunburn, which may last for several hours. Depending on the area and the intensity of the treatment, it will take 7-10 days for the skin to heal. Downtime will include some swelling for a couple of days, redness, dryness, and peeling of tiny scabs from the vaporized columns. It is important to keep the skin moist after treatment with a healing cream. This does mean that social and work activities will have to be curtailed during this time, although you should be perfectly capable of working from home, but always avoid sun exposure. Other potential side effects may include infection, hypo and hyper-pigmentation.

By the 7th day you can usually apply makeup or go out in public, but your skin will still be pink and will be very sensitive for the better part of 1-3 months. It is most important to follow the instructions given to you by your provider. Strict skincare regimen and sun avoidance is recommended for best healing and optimal results for a period of 3 months following treatment. Failure to do so may result in sub-optimal results.

To maintain your results we recommend a healthy skincare routine including cosmeceutical products, and other cosmetic procedures.

What does the treatment feel like?

You can expect some moderate discomfort during the treatment, we apply a topical anesthetic prior to the procedure that makes any discomfort very tolerable. Over-the-counter pain relievers may be taken before and after the procedure to alleviate any residual discomfort.

Do I need to take any special precautions before/after treatment?

We may recommend an antiviral medication and/or an antibiotic one day prior to the treatment. Use of a healing cream and sunscreen is recommended during the healing process and for the weeks and months following treatment.

How many CO2RE treatments will I need?

Generally, you will achieve significant improvement after only one treatment. In the days after the procedure, your skin will gradually look softer and smoother. Age spots and uneven skin texture will start to show immediate improvement. The skin will continue to improve for a period of 6 months following the procedure. For deep lines or deep acne scars more than one treatment can be done.
